RAINBOW TROUT IN DEEP ZONES

Because of frequent weather changes, rainbow trout change habitat in the fall, but still remain very active!

The shift of weather conditions in the autumn period does not significantly affect the life of rainbow trout in the reservoirs and fishponds. Namely, these salmonidae fish seem to recover after great summer heat. Colder, oxygen-rich waters suit them much better.

Bombette fishing still gives great results in fishing ponds. You can use maggots and larvae as baits.

Good fishing locations

As the season moves along, the rainbow trout search for deep zones with water temperature that is most suitable to the trout's metabolism, containing plenty of food. Even though they are interested in minnows too, their main prey are larvae of various insects which spend winters buried in the mud or water grassess covering the bottom, among whom blood worms* are most numerous. Since it is rather difficult to localise these places, it is necessary to carefully search, by castings, all water levels close to the bottom.

If you flyfish in reservoirs, use the sinking fishing line with a streamer, nymph or buzzer imitation. In ponds, besides bombette with live bait, you can use the spinning technique with classic lures, spinners and crankbaits.
